Direct thermal printing is a process that creates images on specially coated paper by selectively applying heat. Part of the thermal printer The thermal printer are printheads with tiny heating elements arranged in line. Topcoat thermal paper has a protective layer on top of the thermal layer and can be varnished without hesitation. With non- topcoat thermal paper, the LED coating is in direct contact with the sensitive thermal layer. Some non-topcoat thermal papers have an absorbent surface and are not suitable for varnishing. To check the compatibility of the coating and the non-topcoat thermal paper preliminary tests are necessary. Keep in mind that with higher coating weight, print density and quality decreases. Evaluate the printout with a thermal printer. Ensure that barcodes are clear and scannable.
